Trevor's Profile

General info - interests, etc.

Doing football commentaries for RTE television in Dublin, not playing it if I can help it, playing golf with my son, trying to spend enough time with my 4 kids, meeting people, networking, strumming my guitar, karaoke in the privacy of my own four walls, Nintendo DS Lite daily brain trainer.

Music

Diverse. From The Jam to Sinatra and most things in between. My wife is French so has me into some French stuff too like Frances Cabrel. I have got to meet a lot of bands in my time through football connections. Highlight was having a couple of beers with Paul Weller at T in the Park a while back. It is probably one of his highlights too... not.

Funniest thing I've done

I am that person who does a practical joke and someone gets hurt. You know how it is. So practical joking is not really my thing. I remember however captaining Glasgow Rangers for the first and last time in a European Cup game against Maltese team Valetta at Ibrox. I was pumped up and ready to lead the team out of the tunnel. The team were at my shoulder in single file behind me. I get the nod to go so off I sprint onto the pitch. The noise of the crowd was as usual deafening. Unknown to me my team mates had conspired to make this a memorable occasion for me. They decided to hold still in the tunnel. I was so pumped I didn’t notice. There I was alone on the pitch with 40,000 fans wondering where the rest of the team was. The lads walked on... laughing. We won 6-0 by the way.

Movies

I have slept through more dvds in the last 2 years its a joke. That’s what having your own business does for you. My youngest daughter has assured that I know the Disney movies backwards. My favourite though in the last few months was Bruce Willis in 16 Blocks. The Great Escape has to be the film I have probably seen more than any other as a kid and still love it.

Television

Porridge, Morecambe and Wise, Fawlty Towers. Oh and Ricky Gervais! Michael Parkinson and Jonathan Ross. War documentaries have me hooked every time too.

The last thing made me laugh

Chris Waddle. I spent a few days with old friends preparing for The Match on Sky One ( Legends v Celebrity game) in October. Chris did an impromptu 30 minute Bobby Robson tribute show when we were waiting for our coach to take us to the hotel. Bobby had that knack of being funny when he didn’t mean to be. Chris had Bobby off to a tee. I have told him to take his stories 'on tour'

Books

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, How to be an Entrepreneur by Steve Parks. Celestine Prophecy and Og Mandino books. Meaning of life stuff I suppose.

3 things the person next to me doesn't know

  1. That I am a great singer
  2. That I hate olives
  3. That I love ambition in people

Food

Porridge with honey, a rare fillet steak, Langan’s soufflé, a kebab in the early hours.

What I'd do if I won the lottery

Change my phone numbers. Then be very philanthropic depending on the size of the pot.
