Slivers-of-Time

I love the way technology keeps evolving! When Jobsite started back in 1995 we were constantly having to explain to people what the Internet was. Since then the world has got used to animations in sites, online shopping, video streaming and facilities we couldn't have possibly described 12 years ago.
So what's next? At Jobsite we're excited about technology that enables something called "Slivers-of-Time Working". It's been funded by the government and we're the exclusive partner helping to roll it out across the UK. This is about websites, run by recruitment agencies, where anyone can sell their spare hours to local employers. It's one area of technological development where the UK leads the world. Government research shows a staggering need for this ultra-flexible workstyle. It's exciting to watch it spreading through the UK. Think of it....you become an ebay seller...but not of your goods...of your own spare hour here and there.
As a student at Brighton needing an extra few quid, I would have loved to have access to this kind of site. Bit of work, bit of play..perfect. Have a look at Slivers-of-Time and let me know what you think.

Hi Keith,
I'm really happy to see how huge a success you have made Jobsite . I have great memories of working with you and always come and visit the site to see what developments there are and keep an eye on the job market.
Maybe you should set up a jobsite out here in Nigeria!

Matt,
Now...I'm trying to guess which Matt you are (I know several) but I think I know who it is. Send me an email (same address as usual) and let me know how you are doing.
Regards,
Keith

Jobsite is a great job site! Kudos to every creative and innovative efforts coming from you all. Jobsite is one of the few job site aiming to move forward. Back then when I was a student at University of Westminster, a senior lecturer recommended Jobsite to the student!
The idea about Silvers of Time is great. We need more of innovative things to assist in moving people forward. Keep on with the good job.

Hi Keith,
Wondering what's the success looking like for Slivers Of Time, now that its almost 2 years of its launch?
I hear that the adoption rates in the pilot program have been painstakingly low (around 300 sellers?).
I believe this idea is truly innovative and has a huge potential. What are your thoughts on its initial low momentum? Are there any plans to change it?

The pilot for Slivers-of-Time Working has been running for nearly the two years period intended. It was the period in which this highly complex software and the attendant processes could be thoroughly examined and tested. There has been continuous technology development throughout this process.
There are currently around 300 active workers in the pilot, and thousands more registered at www.sliversoftime.com waiting to enter the system as it expands beyond the pilot pool.
Meantime, before the pilot has officially completed, Slivers-of-Time markets are expanding to other areas of the UK including Liverpool, Leeds, Huddersfield, Hull, Cambridgeshire and Kent.
So, yes it may seem a slow and cautious launch process; but this way of working is unique in the world. It relies on extremely sophisticated software and creates new behaviours in the job market. When government funded it, they demanded solidity rather than excitement. But keep watching!
