What a Rewarding Experience
December 21, 2006 04:59 PM
Whoops, I appear to have done it again & not blogged for a while. The main reason for this can be summed up in 3 little words: 'The RecruitRank Awards'!
We held these on the 9th November at a beautiful venue called 'Il Bottaccio' in London. The Awards were designed to reward those recruitment agencies with the best candidate management skills and were based on candidate feedback left throughout the year using the RecruitRank tool on Jobsite. More information and pictures can be found here.
Well I think I can safely say that event management is not an area that I want to pursue as a full time career! The actual ceremony was fantastic and the feedback from clients has been extremely positive but the amount of work that goes into it is immense. However, I've heard that the overwhelming feeling of satisfaction, pride & relief you experience with the final outcome of something is directly proportional to the effort you put in to get there.
I'm hoping that's the case with all things in life as I'll shortly be moving into my first house & it's taken me almost 5 months to get it sorted. There's been issues with damp, plaster, electricity, gas & pretty much everything else but everyone is saying that because of all the hassles I'll appreciate it much more when I live there.
Lastly on the same note, I became an Auntie for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I'm ridiculously excited about it. My brother's girlfriend had a horrendous time & it took Blake almost four days to come into the world but she said that made him seem even more precious. After some of the stuff she told me I'm not sure about that, but he is gorgeous. Many congratulations Gemma & Jon.
Right I'm off as I'm now working hard on all the post awards activity (no rest for the wicked). Expect to see much more about this event soon.
Take it easy and enjoy the holidays.
P.S. Seeing as we now have an additional blogger (Hi Keith) the last person to blog gets their mug kicked off the page so expect to see much more frequent blogs from me moving forward!

Well, hello.....and thank you for adding an entertaining and refreshing new reason for me to visit this site.
5 months to move into your house?...wow...that's a long time.....There must have been some major problems....I wonder how come the initial survey didnt spot all the doobly-wotsits that needed doing?
Anyway.....hope to see more entertaining stuff from you soon.......
Keep smiling.

((Oh....finally, I have found someone who likes The Bodyguard as much as me....lol))

Hi Cheryl
Sounds like the Recruit Rank awards were greatly recieved. I have to say I attended and was extremely impressed by the awards themselves, but also the friendliness of the Jobsite staff. They were very helpful and a joy to meet.
I've just moved into my house and am finding things to do everywhere... looks like my partying days are now over... yeah right!
Hope your New Years was amazing!

Hey Gerrard,
Always got time for a fellow Bodyguard fan!
Well the survey did pick up a number of problems; wall ties, damp & airbricks mainly. These things were fixed fairly quickly once I officially got the keys.
What the survey didn't pick up was how rubbish the walls were and when I started taking paper off all the plaster came off with it! Something I hadn't planned, or budgeted, for. The survey also didn't pick up the fact that one of the plug sockets in the kitchen was full of water so that blew the power and meant that they all had to be re-fitted! Unfortunately surveys can only pick up so much and it is an old property.
I love it now though, despite the toilet breaking on New Year's Eve!
Expect a new blog early next week. Have a good weekend.

Howdy Pete,
Don't be so modest - you were no gatecrasher, you were a legitimate invited guest. The reason you were invited was because the candidates that have used Roevin in Luton voted you guys as having great customer service so congrats & I hope you're keeping up the good work.
I'm glad that you had fun at the Awards. I'm also glad that you think we're a nice bunch of people (it's amazing what free alcohol can do to perception!).
How exciting that you're in your new pad. I know, what you mean about finding things to do everywhere, it seems never ending but I have to admit that I quite like pottering around. I realised that I had to get out more though when I got excited about taking my Dyson out of its box!
Your partying days will never be over, you'll just take your zimmer frame with you in the future!
Annoyingly, I wasn't feeling too precious on New Year's Eve so I stayed in & was asleep on the sofa before midnight. Luckily the fireworks woke me up so I did see the start of 2007. I've got high hopes that this is going to be a great year. Hope you partied like it was 1999!
Take it easy and enjoy your new place.
