Too Young To Progress?

I am 21 years of age and I am working for a manufacturing firm as Head of Production, I manage a team of about 100 employees and 6 supervisors. I want to progress my career in a different organisation but I keep getting knocked back and I think it is due to my age. People seem very keen to see me when they have seen my CV, but as soon as they ask how old I am they lose interest.

I have had huge succes in my current role but there is no room for any more progression and the company shows no signs of expansion, what must I do to gain a managerial position in another firm apart from wait 10 years?

Robert
