Workplace ethics - advice from Karren Brady

My boss has asked me to fudge some figures on a deal we are doing. I understand why he is doing it but know I would lose my job if it was discovered. What would you do?

Do not do it. The most important thing you need to have and to give to any business is your integrity and your professionalism. If your company found out that you were involved then you would undoubtedly be fired and it would always be on your employment record.

Remember your loyalty is not to any individual in the company but to the company itself.

You need to tell your boss that it should not be asked of you and nobody of integrity should ask you. Say you are not prepared to be party to any fudging and if he goes ahead with it you will be bringing it to the attention of his boss. You are obliged to do this as an employee of the company.
