Risky Passion or Pastures New?
I think for a while now I have not enjoyed work as much as I have in the past, due to a low staff morale and feeling undervalued due to low salary I am getting for the responsibility, experience and hours I do. After an enjoyable busy 6 years at the company I have started looking for the next step in my career away from the company.
This sounds fine, but I work for a company I am really passionate about and maybe in the next 6 months my manager's position might become available which would give me my next step on the career ladder and salary increase I am after. Should I hang on for a possible promotion for a company I am really passionate about or move on to pastures new?

A nice problem to have, but a problem none the less.
I'd say that sometimes it is time to move on - but think carefully about it first.
You are lucky to enjoy your job so take your time over any move. Dont jump at the first offer of a £5k pay rise but make sure the job is what you want to do aswell.
I left a job for a similar reason, I got 2 job offers - one of which was £2k more so I went for it. But it was aweful and now 3 years, and as many jobs, later I'm in the job I turned down and loving it. If only I hadnt been blinded by the money in the first place!

Hi
I have just read something called the science of getting rich and in there it talks of jobs and moving up. It says that in order to move up you have to become too big for your job and then with no effort people will seek you out and promote you. I believe if you are passionate about your company you have 6 mths to make a difference in your own attitude and be the leader you are before you get paid for it....promotion will then be a natural progression.

I'd have to agree with melanie and Clive just because the grass looks greener doesn't mean it is speak to your boss our your hr department and let them know how you feel, see if you can get a secondment to another part of the business and increase your existing skillset.
I made the mistake of leaving a job I enjoyed working with a great team of people for 6 years to move to a more senior role in a supposed larger environment and to be honest I've never been so under challenged or unhappy in my life.
After being here only 4 months I've had 4 interviews 2 in the last week in which i'm Istill waiting to hear from I've even tried going back to my old job was split between 2 people and I can't go back.
So make sure that you've squeezed all oyu can out of your current job, employer, etc and deffinatley look before you leap!
